Privacy Policy
Aura Awnings ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website, request an estimate, book a survey or buy an awning from us, and how we use, store, share and protect that information under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Last updated: 14th July 2026
1. Who we are
Aura Awnings is the trading name of Shutterlove South Ltd, a company registered in Scotland (Company No. SC595385) with its registered office at 5 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4AN. Shutterlove South Ltd is the data controller for personal data collected through the Aura Awnings website and our sales, survey, installation and aftercare activities.
You can contact us at any time at info@auraawnings.com with questions about this policy or how we handle your data.
2. Information we collect
- Contact details you provide through our estimate tool, contact form, email, phone, WhatsApp or when booking a survey — name, email, phone number, postcode and installation address.
- Project details — awning type, dimensions, fabric, frame colour, controls, add-ons, site photographs you upload, notes, and survey findings.
- Payment information — we do not store full card details. Payments taken by card are processed by our payment provider; we retain transaction references and invoice records only. Finance applications (e.g. Klarna, ClearPay) are handled directly by the finance provider.
- Marketing preferences — whether you have opted in to marketing emails, and your opt-out preference for photography of your completed installation (see section 7).
- Communications — messages you send us and our replies (email, WhatsApp, SMS, call notes).
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, device information, referring URL and pages visited, collected through cookies and analytics tools as described in section 5.
3. How we use your information
- To prepare and send you an estimate, quotation or revised quotation.
- To arrange and carry out surveys, manufacture, deliveries and installations.
- To respond to enquiries and provide aftercare, servicing and warranty support.
- To send transactional emails and SMS relating to your project (booking confirmations, delivery updates, invoices, follow-ups).
- To send occasional marketing about products, offers and inspiration — only where you have given consent or where you are an existing customer with a legitimate interest to hear from us. You can opt out of marketing at any time.
- To improve our website, products and service.
- To meet our legal, accounting, tax and warranty obligations.
4. Legal bases
We process your personal data on the following legal bases under UK GDPR:
- Contract — to provide the products and services you have requested and to perform our obligations under our Terms & Conditions.
- Legitimate interests — to operate and improve our business, prevent fraud, keep records for warranty and dispute purposes, and market our own similar products to existing customers.
- Consent — for non-essential cookies, third-party marketing communications and any processing where consent is required.
- Legal obligation — for tax, accounting, consumer-rights and health-and-safety record-keeping.
5. Cookies, analytics and advertising
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Full details are set out in our Cookie Policy. In summary, we may use the following tools where enabled:
- Google Analytics 4 — to understand how visitors use our website and improve it.
- Google Ads (including conversion tracking and remarketing) — to measure the performance of our advertising and show relevant ads.
- Meta Pixel (Facebook / Instagram) — to measure ad performance and show relevant ads across Meta platforms.
- Microsoft Clarity — for anonymised session recordings and heat-maps to improve website usability.
Where these tools are active they are loaded only in line with your cookie preferences. You can change your preferences at any time via the cookie banner or in your browser settings.
6. Marketing emails
We use Brevo as our email service provider. If you subscribe to our marketing emails, or become a customer, we may send you occasional emails about new products, offers, project inspiration and useful guidance. Every marketing email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also opt out by emailing info@auraawnings.com.
7. Photography of installations
We regularly photograph completed installations for use on our website, social media and marketing materials. Photographs typically show the awning and its immediate surroundings; we do not publish addresses or identifying personal information. Our Terms & Conditions explain how to opt out — simply let us know in writing before installation and we will not use images of your property for marketing.
8. Sharing your information
We share your personal data only with parties that help us deliver our service, including:
- Manufacturers, fabric suppliers and approved installation partners fulfilling your order.
- Payment processors and finance providers (e.g. Klarna, ClearPay).
- Email, SMS and marketing platforms (e.g. Brevo).
- Hosting, storage, analytics and advertising providers (see section 5).
- Professional advisers (accountants, insurers, legal advisers) and HMRC where legally required.
We never sell your personal data.
9. International transfers
Some of our service providers may process your data outside the UK or EEA (for example US-based analytics and advertising providers). Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, including UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Data retention
- Enquiry data (where you did not go on to purchase) — up to 24 months after your last contact with us.
- Customer records (surveys, quotations, invoices, warranty and installation records) — at least 10 years after installation, so we can honour our 10-year fabric warranty and meet our legal and accounting obligations.
- Marketing data — until you unsubscribe or ask us to stop, then removed from active marketing lists.
- Financial records — as required by HMRC and applicable accounting law (currently 6 years).
11. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls, secure hosting providers and staff confidentiality obligations. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted to us over the internet.
12. Automated decision-making
We do not make any decisions about you that are based solely on automated processing.
13. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Have inaccurate data corrected.
- Ask for your data to be deleted (subject to our legal obligations).
- Restrict or object to certain types of processing.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@auraawnings.com. We will respond within one month.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed. Material changes will be highlighted on the website.
